Itโ€™s simple. Make a small hole in the cap, glue the cap to the center of the CD, inflate the balloon, and secure it over the cap.

The magic happens when you place this set up over a flat surface.

As air rushes out of the cap, it creates a layer of air between the CD and the flat surface.

The air gushing downwards experiences an opposing upwards force, explained by Newtonโ€™s Third Law of Motion (for every action, thereโ€™s an equal and opposite reaction), which lifts the CD making it hover.

The air as it gushes sideways towards the CDโ€™s edges, again experiences an opposing force, which now propels the set up across a flat surface, leaving a trail of scientific wonder!
