Accountability
How we measure our impact
ILP uses rigorous, multi-method assessment aligned with national frameworks to track outcomes and continuously improve programs. ILP tracks what children actually learn, not just whether they show up. Our monitoring and evaluation framework measures outcomes from baseline to endline across every program, aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 indicators — and benchmarked against the Nesta Standards of Evidence.
Learning Level Assessments
ILP measures learning outcomes through Learning Level Assessments conducted at the start and end of every academic year. Students are individually tested on reading and mathematics using curriculum-mapped questions developed with school teachers.
Ongoing School Monitoring
Twice a month, ILP field staff collect data on student enrollment, attendance, teacher presence, and school functioning — not just annual snapshots. This continuous monitoring flags early warning signs: attendance slipping, children at risk of dropping out.
Community and Teacher Participation
ILP also tracks participation indicators — whether School Management Committees are meeting and whether teachers are applying new methods in class — reflecting the core belief that sustainable change requires community ownership well beyond the classroom.
Independent Review and Government Validation
External evaluators review completed projects three years after ILP exits, testing whether outcomes held without continued support — and in government-embedded programs, state departments monitor results independently.
